Commissioned by Kindling & Sage to create this cover art for issue 2 Artistry.
Entitled ‘Artivism’, this piece is an energetic and fierce display of women leading protests, movements and activism across the globe. It’s a tribute to the women on the front lines and the matriarchs and acknowledges the issues facing Black, Indigenous and Women of Colour that white feminism at best ignores, at worst creates and perpetuates.
Creativity is an outlet for many and the women shown here are artists and creatives, alluded to by their attire, paintbrushes and paint in hand with their signs and mural in the background, tying the piece together, asking “Ain’t I A Woman?”
